Case study
Rowing on San Francisco Bay#
I joined the Embarcadero Rowing Club's board in 2023 to lead recruitment. The club had about 18 members and was thinking of selling boats; the Learn to Row program I built helped make it the largest club in the Bay Area Whaleboat Rowing Association, with more than 70 members. Today I chair the board. I also designed and coded the club's website and built its event and race app, which has handled more than 4,000 signups.
For the Bay Area Whaleboat Rowing Association, I'm a board member and the volunteer developer. I built its public website and its regatta scoring and operations platform, and I coordinate the safety fleet of motorized vessels that supports its races.
Poetry#
I founded Sink Review, an online poetry journal focused on typography, in 2006, and have edited, designed, and developed it since, across 19 issues.
Community#
With the Project Management Institute's San Francisco Bay Area chapter, I build community events for its sustainability program, both virtual and in person.
